At Woodcrafting.in, we practise carpentry at a high level – also inculcate other branches of woodwork training courses like joinery, cabinet-making and roofing. In the last seven years, we have seen the difference in the lives of our faithful carpenters – those who have been with us from the beginning – and the difference in their capabilities now and before.

Only recently have there started to be formal carpentry course in India, which are also available to the general public. Carpentry is slowly being seen as a more respectable profession, and one that is accessible to people of all backgrounds. In line with this, Woodcrafting.in has always believed in the power of training, and in providing access to the tools and education that our founder Bram has, to skill others. 

The Woodcrafting School – We are one of the carpenter training institutes offering training for people of all backgrounds. Our main aim is to upskill as many Makers as possible and to spread knowledge of carpentry amongst people so that they have better prospects of employment. We, as a carpenter training institute, also want to provide the Design community – Architects, Furniture Designers and others – with the tools to design better. In these modules we teach proportions, styles and some hands – on exercises so that designers can understand technical aspects better and therefore design better. We also offer programs for other companies where their existing employees can get trained in specific skills and better their craft.

At our carpenter training institute, we would like to raise the level of wood working in the country, by providing people with woodwork training courses. This is to help them with the tools to earn better salaries in this field. In the course modules for carpenters, they learn more about drafting and geometry and how to read drawings. The woodworking course will help them understand better how to translate a 2d drawing into the joinery on the actual piece of wood. We also focus a lot on process; on planning how to execute your piece so that you are most efficient, and on how to optimise for the amount of time taken.

In the time that the carpenter training institute has been active, we have done more than three batches of training for carpenters from Kolkata, training for World Skills candidates from both Karnataka and across India, and been a part of the prestigious Erasmus program where we are sent candidates from France for a 6 week training at our premises.

With the growing demand that is seen for furniture and interiors – both in urban and in rural areas, we aim to give back to the community by creating an accessible way of learning. We urge people of all backgrounds to reach out to us and join us to learn and grow.
